Curriculum

East High School employs a schedule that allows students to take six 50-minute classes a day. It also offers an optional zero hour, for students to take a schedule of seven classes. There are limited options for taking zero hour courses, and they are held before the official start of school, so few students elect to take these options.

East High School offers many classes to serve its students. These classes include Advanced Placement (AP) classes, Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), vocational classes, special education, honors, and basic classes.

According to the new school "red plan", East is going to be moved into the Ordean Middle School Building starting in the year 2011.

The School Song, The Birchen

Duluth East’s school song is The Birchen. The lyrics of the song are as follows.

East High Rah-Rah-Rah (clap-clap-clap),
With a Sis-boom-bah (clap-clap-clap),
At our games united are we,
Brave and strong we promise to be!
We are sure to win (clap-clap-clap),
Once we do begin (clap-clap-clap),
E-A-S-T Rah-rah for dear old East.
Dear East Senior High (clap-clap-clap),
Let your banners fly (clap-clap-clap),
To our colors true we will be,
And we’ll head to our victory,
Come on, Red and Grey (clap-clap-clap),
Take that game away (clap-clap-clap),
E-A-S-T Rah-rah for dear old East.
